LINDY HOP COURSES
Lindy By The Sea is one of the most successful Lindy Hop dance schools in the world. We
think a great deal of our success is due to the friendly nature of our classes, the
thoroughness in our teaching, and the fact that we constantly strive to keep up to date with
the dance itself.
Goal: To nurture a kind, fun, welcoming, and skilled community of swing
dancers.

THURSDAY EVENINGS ~ BEGINNERS INTRO TO SWING DANCING & LINDY HOP
THURSDAY'S CURRICULUM
Levels 1, 2, & 3
Description
In these three levels of courses, you will learn all the basic foundations of Lindy Hop Swing Dancing: The six count basic, swingouts, lindy charleston, and sugar pushes, as well as, musicality, styling and connection.
Level 1: Intro to Swing Dance - Lindy Hop
East Coast Swing (6-count) & Lindy Side-by-Side Charleston
Level 2: Lindy Hop Basics
Swingouts, Back Charleston, and Sugar Pushes
Level 3: Styling, Musicality, & Connection
Taking what you know and making you look like a Lindy Hopper!
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LEVELS 1A & 1B, AND 2A & 2B?
LEVELS 1 & 2 EACH HAVE TWO SERIES ~ "A" & "B".
They alternate months. You can start on either one!
What's the difference between A and B?
Weeks one and two of the series will have matching curriculum; weeks three and four will have
different curriculum. Stay twice and really learn more!
1A and 1B are not sequential; you can begin with either one.
Background: As teachers, we know that Lindy Hop does not come to students overnight. It only comes with good solid learning and repetition (in class) and dancing practice (social dancing). We have always encouraged our students to repeat each level at least twice in order to get really outstanding dancing basics, and with the incentive of new material, we hope you'll take us up on it.
THURSDAY'S CURRICULUM
Level 3
Level 3: Musicality and Styling
By the time students get to Level 3, they have enough Lindy Hop moves to play with and now
budding with curiosity about all that styling and musicality they see on the dance floor, and
they are ready to try it! Level 3 will now focus intently on musicality and styling for the
leaders and followers. How swing music is constructed, and how to know what to do with moves
to make sure that you are dancing "to" the music (like a musician) rather than dancing
"through" the music (like a train!).

TUESDAY EVENINGS - INTERMEDIATE LINDY
"THE TRACK"
ESSENTIALS FOR THE ENTHUSIASTIC LINDY HOPPER
Six Months of Intermediate Lindy Hop Curriculum
Orange ~ Silver ~ Red ~ Green ~ Blue ~ Yellow
START ANY MONTH!
"The Track" is six months of moves and material. Each series has a "stand-alone" curriculum, so you can join anytime.
Let's say you are ready to join The Track: We call each of The Track's six series a color: Orange, Silver, Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, and the material is non-progressive (unlike Thursday's curriculum) so it doesn't matter when you start. To complete The Track, you would simply need to take one of each of those colors, eventually.
THE TRACK CURRICULUM

For example: You start in January (Orange), you would finish in June (Yellow); if you took the classes consecutively. But, let's say you can't find six months in a row, you could take any combination whereby you've hit all six.
SAMPLE YEAR
Each series in The Track will contain set curriculum covering variations of the following
moves: Swingouts, Charleston, Sugar Pushes, Slides, Boogie Steps, Hollywood Style, Savoy
Style, Balboa, Shag, Styling, and Stop Reverses.
Students have definitely enjoyed going through The Track more than once, and we are convinced that The Track is raising the level of dancing for our intermediate students. Further, Track students will have more social dance experience during this study period, preparing them for Advanced Lindy classes in the future.
Here's a letter from Steven Smith, student of The Track:
February 8, 2005
Good morning -
I'm still flying high from the Monday* Track session - in fact, that series could quite
possibly be the best thing ever to happen on Monday in history.
I'm always so impressed that the moves you teach are fun, very leadable, and very musical -
unlike some moves taught elsewhere whose intricacies seem to have more in common with
building a large parking structure.
Your fan,
Steven Smith
*In 2005, we offered the Track on Mondays & Tuesdays. Now only on Tuesdays.

THE MASTER TRACK
"It's all about you!"
TAKING YOUR DANCING TO THE NEXT LEVEL
This eight-week course, developed by Rusty Frank and Ron Campbell, is designed for people who
want to bring their dancing to the next level. The focus of the program is on musicality,
styling, and individual development. Class size is limited to 12-14 students, evenly divided between leaders and followers.*
Think of The Master Track as a workshop, a master class (rather than a class for dance masters).
TRACK YOUR DANCING
Each week, Rusty and Ron work with the students individually and
as a group in a series of exercises and challenges. The students are filmed each week, and
the footage is studied as a group (in Lindy By The Sea's traditional upbeat, encouraging, and
friendly environment) to examine individual areas of goals and progress. Each week's dance footage is shared with the students so they can download it and track their progress.
The total cost for all eight classes is $125/per student (and doesn't bundle with our Series Pass for discounts with other classes).
*Students should be versed in the Lindy By The Sea curriculum prior to this joining this
course (Levels 1-3 and at least half of the Track or social dance equivalent).
Letters from "Master Track" students:
Rusty,
Mind-blowing class. I can't believe what I'm learning from you and Ron. Thanks!
Brian Newbegin
Rusty/Ron,
I have been dancing in the Lindy scene for more than eight years and your Master's class is far and away the best class I've ever taken. I recommend this class to anyone who is serious about becoming a great dancer.
Thanks to both of you for making it such a success.
Scott Giordano
Hi Rusty & Ron,
I want to thank you for coming up with the "Master Track." I look forward to
coming to class every week. I love music and I love to dance. I have a new appreciation for
the music now and you have taught me how to dance. Yes dance, not just going from one move
to the next, but having fun with the music and my dance partner. You have replaced that
bored look on my dance partners face with a big smile. Thank you. Thank you.
